The Warthog

Fairchild-Republic A10 Thunderbolt
Every pilot has a list of favorite aircraft and if  money were no object we would fill our hangers with them. Now I haven't seen any A10s for sale on Ebay but If I had to do it all over again I may have reenlisted for the chance to fly one of these puppies.

You start with one 20 foot long Gatling gun and then you simply build a plane around it. Details Here

I went to an airshow southwest of Houston 20 some years ago and enjoyed the 2-ship A10 demo team from Barksdale AFB. After a few passes I noticed they were always doing their turnarounds over the yard of a nearby prison, very tight turns at about 300 feet. (I think it was the prison from the movie "Sugarland Express")
The prisoners had an airshow too.

I just read the spec sheet you linked to.

I knew the Warthog was cool.

I had no idea it was freaking awesome.

Good stuff.

I think its appeal to me is that it performs its best near the ground, low and slow. Kind of like a Super Cub on steroids.
