A record 96 mushers have signed up and paid the $3000 entrants fee to take the ultimate adventure trip across 1049 miles of the most beautiful yet dangerous country on God's green earth. Or in this case white earth. They are harnessing up over 1500 dogs and heading down 4th Avenue in Anchorage this morning for the ceremonial start of this years Iditarod Trail Sled Dog race.
